What started as a fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic has sparked a domino effect of backlogs and congestion across container terminals globally, resulting in industrywide shipping delays. Even the biggest and most efficient ports like Singapore, have felt the impact of these ripples.

All major container hubs, including Singapore, rely on a fine-tuned logistical ecosystem– any abnormality or unusual traffic at one port anywhere in the world triggers a ripple effect across ports globally. The recent typhoons in the Asia-Pacific region, coupled with the ongoing supply chain backlogs, have caused a number of ships to be anchored off regional hubs like Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The ramifications of this have been felt in the form of backlogs in Singapore and further exacerbation by the fluctuating surges in Covid-19 cases in the city-state.

Like most shipping companies, we too have been affected by this – with some of our containers currently stuck in Singapore due to the ongoing industrywide hold-up’s. This is the first time in 25 years that we have experienced this and we hope to see a sense of normalcy return soon.

We want you to know that we are doing everything we can to have shipments arrive as close to the transit time quoted, using the best route available, even as these bottlenecks continue to persist.
